Your feet are very important, although you take advantage of them every single day. You torture them in tall heels, put them on hot surfaces, and make them endure so much just to get you where you want to go. If you aren't giving your feet the proper care in between all of these times, your feet could begin to suffer. Read on for a few things you should be doing to take care of your feet properly.

Wear Shoes With A Low Heel

If you are torturing your feet with high heels, you may want to reconsider. Wear shoes with a low heel instead, as higher heels can push your feet forward and too much pressure is put on the toes. When this happens, you could strain your toes, or you may end up with pain in the pads of the foot. You could also end up with a strain of the arch, as most high-heeled shoes don't have any arch support. Keep the heels on your shoes to a low height. Anything significantly tall can result in pain or foot issues. To help with foot pad pain, you can add a supportive cushion to the top of the heeled shoe to cushion the foot pad.

Cut Your Toenails Straight

Cutting your toenails is important in caring for your feet. If you aren't clipping your toenails, they could get so long that they could become painful. When clipping your nails, you should clip them straight across, as opposed to at an angle. Clipping them straight across will help prevent ingrown toenails. An ingrown toenail can be very painful, and it is when the nail grows into the skin on your toe. It can become infected and be extremely painful when you walk. 

Wear Arch Supports

Wear arch supports in your shoes to help with your arches. If you have high arches, or if you have arches that are falling, you should wear arch supports to help prevent any pain. The arch of your foot can fall over time, especially if you aren't wearing shoes with enough support. Weight gain can also lead to arch problems. If you have put on weight, your arches will bear the weight of your body and can begin to fall, causing you excess pain.
